The Many Warning Signs of Candace Owens
/Many Candace Owens fans are heartbroken and baffled about her actions in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. To recap, she’s alleged:
Charlie Kirk was close to becoming Catholic.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu misrepresented a letter that Kirk presented to him.
Donors like Bill Ackman had threatened Kirk at an event in the Hamptons.
Netanyahu offered Charlie Kirk $150 million for an anti-Tucker Carlson campaign.
Nefarious things were going on with Turning Point’s financial books, prompting an audit.
Charlie Kirk was assassinated and replaced in his organization for his changing views on Israel, and Turning Point’s leadership is covering it up.
That Josh Hammer retweeted a post from Donald Trump about public executions the day before Charlie Kirk died, alluding that Hammer had something to do with Kirk’s death.
Didn’t accept that Tyler Robinson killed Charlie Kirk.
By now, most of these allegations have been addressed. Bill Ackman denied Candace’s claims, as did Turning Point staff, and other influencers who attended the Israel event. His closest friends denied any Catholic conversion. Owens backtracked, stating she had no idea who made the Catholicism or the $150 million payout claim (which she literally tweeted about). Kirk’s letter was released, affirming Kirk’s support for Israel and his suggestions on how to better defend Israel in the media. Turning Point often conducts audits to see how it can more efficiently spend its money.
Josh Hammer, like many influencers on September 9, was tweeting about Iryana Zarutska and desiring justice for her. Candace tried to insist people weren’t talking about Zarutska that day, which is verifiably false. Kirk had made several posts, and President Donald Trump addressed her murder in a video. But Candace has motivation to discredit Hammer, since he was prepping Israel talking points with Charlie Kirk before he died, cutting against the leaked private text message of Kirk venting about losing money from a Jewish donor and abandoning the cause.
As far as Tyler Robinson, Candace Owens has “feels” to go off of, and the type of “evidence” she presents to her audience is bodycam footage of Robinson using the word “car” instead of “vehicle” to disprove his alleged text messages, even though the same bodycam footage shows Robinson using the word “vehicle.” She either watched a short version of the bodycam footage or clipped it to blatantly deceive her audience. Besides the text messages, authorities have DNA, video footage, the fact that his parents identified him, he had established motive, and I’m sure plenty of other details that will come out in the trial and aren’t for the ears of podcasters to taint a jury pool.
While some fans are digging their heels in and choosing to go down the dark rabbit hole with Candace, others have seen this as the final straw. Many are questioning what has led her here. Is she overcome with grief over what happened to her friend and desperately—perhaps even if recklessly—looking for the truth? Is she suffering from post-partum psychosis after multiple pregnancies? What has pushed her so far, and is there any return?
I want to be sympathetic to the casual Candace Owens viewer who loved certain sayings or segments from Owens, perhaps from her earlier days. For people who have watched her content religiously, I’m not certain why they are so hurt or shocked.
Candace Owens has pushed conspiracies against Jews for years now. Some have defended her, claiming she’s “just asking questions” or criticizing Israel, but that isn’t the case. I’ve seen her push blood libels, minimize experiences about the Holocaust, and try to paint a less horrifying image of Hitler by pumping up how horrible the Allies were. She’s pinned multiple conspiracies on Israel and the Jews from Kennedy’s assassination, 9/11, the Epstein files, and more. Dennis Prager wrote Candace Owens a lengthy letter addressing her conspiracies and blood libels. To my knowledge, she has never thoroughly responded. Owens won’t even accept the existence of Messianic Jews and rejects the idea of “Judeo-Christianity.” Owens has an obsession, and it really shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone that she, or her buddy Ian Carrol, sought to find an Israel angle to Kirk’s death.
Owens also has a history of misrepresenting details, either out of ignorance or a blatant attempt to deceive her audience. She spent a lot of time calling out Rep. Brian Mast for using “genocidal language” on a clipped video that she never provided context for. She accused former Daily Wire colleague Andrew Klavin of defamation, then went on to misrepresent his criticisms of her Nazi book-burning segment. Owens claimed she never tweeted “Christ is King” at a Jew, when she literally has it under a retweeted Ben Shapiro post after telling him off. She gave a softball interview to Andrew Tate and allowed him to lie about how distant his pimping history was and about the details of his court cases. She tried to blow off his indiscretions as things he said and did 10 years ago, but Owens must have known it wasn’t that long ago. When she and George Farmer, who would become her husband, met Farmer’s good and longtime friend Andrew Tate at dinner in 2019, her Romanian assistant told her that Tate was a pimp. Owens would later go on to issue an open challenge to anyone willing to debate Tate’s criminal cases, but she never took Apostate Prophet up on his acceptance. Owens’ deceptive tactics are something I’ve covered in the past, and I’m not the only content creator who has tried to issue a warning.
If you’re wondering why Candace Owens would publicly pick a fight with Turning Point, let me remind you that Owens thrives in controversy. It’s not only BLM and Cardi B that she’s beefed with. She has battled Kim Klacik, Nicole Arbour, Steven Crowder, Seth Dillion, and others.
Owens is currently being sued by the Prime Minister of France and his wife because she made a series alleging Brigitte Macron is actually her brother and secretly transitioned, among other conspiracies. Owens uses a similar bag of tactics while profiting from controversy. After she introduces a conspiracy, if the named person or organization doesn’t respond in the way she expects or demands, she takes that as evidence. Even if they respond or provide the exact evidence she requests, she’ll deny it, misrepresent it, or move the goal posts. Owens didn’t accept the Macrons’ evidence, and the situation has been escalated to a lawsuit. Owens criticized President Trump for not coming to her aid. Mind you, this is after Candace made the allegation that Trump was controlled by Zionists and particularly influenced by his Jewish daughter to not release the Epstein files.
If you’re asking how Owens could be so uncouth, remember her history. This is a woman who enraged Christina Applegate, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, because Owens ran a segment bashing Kim Kardashian for featuring a model in a wheelchair for her inclusive underwear line. Owens thought it was shameless pandering, and after massive backlash, she did a follow-up episode titled, “Sorry, Representation Doesn’t Matter.” In it, she spends the majority of her time mocking critics. She went on a rant about how not everything is for you, even though the Kardashians’ Skims were literally created with the disabled community in mind.
If you’re wondering how Candace Owens could take this tragedy and make it about herself, remember that in her BLM documentary, Owens was angry that Derrick Chauvin wouldn’t accept an invitation for an interview. Mind you, Candace Owens shot up to stardom after proclaiming that she didn’t support George Floyd. In what way would it serve Chauvin’s interests to give an interview with such a controversial figure, for a film that could only be viewed behind a paywall on a conservative app?
Charlie Kirk’s pastor made a plea to Owens to be the kind of friend that Kirk was to her. Despite her constant conspiracies and Kirk publicly saying people who blamed everything on Israel had brain rot, he would not publicly bash her. Owens responded to Kirk’s pastor by saying only Erika Kirk or her husband could stop her. Since Owens has laid the groundwork that Charlie was executed to install a new king (who is now Erika), and that Turning Point is compromised, I doubt a widow is powerful enough to silence Candace Owens. As far as her husband (whom she had only known 17 days before getting engaged), he hasn’t been motivated to stop her thus far. Why would that change? Though his father, Lord Michael Farmer, did find it necessary to come out against antisemitism as a response to his daughter-in-law.
I don’t know Candace Owens’ motivation. Some question if Owens has been used in the Qatar MAGA outreach operation. Some question whether she promotes conspiracies to increase views and revenue. Some question if she genuinely lost her mind. A simpler explanation could be that she’s returning to her Left-wing roots, to the same person who thought Republicans and the Tea Party were “bats**t crazy” and couldn’t wait for them to die peacefully in their sleep, so social change that she desired could happen. She had a sudden shift to the Right and rose to stardom by saying things like, “I don’t care about Charlottesville, the KKK, or White Supremacy.” Conservatives rallied around her, and she’s been a household name ever since.
I don’t like to throw around accusations of being a grifter or insincere conversions, but her content inspires questions. Even if her switch was sincere for all these years, some of her tendencies mirror the Left. We don’t like their focus on identity politics, victimhood, and obsession with blaming systems for the woes of the world, like systemic racism. The victims Candace appeals to now are Christians (specifically Catholics), and the shadowy figures controlling everything are the Jews. Candace Owens used to have the goal of leading black voters out of the Democratic Party, and now she proclaims that Right-Left dynamics are “slave slop.” She’s also made statements to undermine the West, like claiming the US shouldn’t have gotten involved in WWII, and the world isn’t better off for it. It also undermines the country when she claims President Trump is controlled by Zionists.
It would be more accurate to say President Trump is a Zionist because a Zionist simply means you believe Israel has a right to exist.
There’s a lot more that could be said about Candace Owens, and many other content creators have tried to sound the alarm about her antics for a while. If you are suffering heartbreak from her current content, I understand. But I hope you have been enlightened to the blaring signs, and turn away from this intellectual dead end.
